World Tour 2009, Arrives in Barbados

Barbados
26 March 2009

Many on the island of Barbados already recognize the work of Youth for Human Rights International (YHRI) as a result of seeing YHRI’s public service announcements played on national television. The YHRI Barbados chapter now represents the eighty-fourth country to join YHRI. Hosted by Rev. Michael Steele, the World Tour 2009 team had a packed agenda of meetings with high-level officials planned, in addition to special events for youth.

Reverend Michael A. Steele of Hope Transplant Ministries was appointed honorary ambassador for Youth for Human Rights International in Barbados. Reverend Steele will continue to work with the local community to promote human rights education and get YHRI’s booklets and public service announcements even more widely distributed on the island.

Dr. Mary Shuttleworth, Ed.D., founder and president of YHRI, continues her human rights education activities with children during the World Tour team’s stay in Barbados.

In honor of the 60th Anniversary of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Youth for Human Rights International is again circling the globe, now on its sixth annual World Tour. The exciting World Tour 2009 includes Argentina, Australia, Barbados, Columbia, Jordan, Mexico, Russia, South Africa, Switzerland, Timor-Leste and Uganda.
